Infant & Toddler Program (6 weeks - 24 months). Our infant program provides
quality care in a loving and nurturing environment. Safety and health are top
priorities at Open Arms. Our caregivers are certified in CPR and First Aid and have training and experience in caring for infants and toddlers.

Our caregivers are sensitive to each baby’s needs and work to build a sense of security and trust with each child. They recognize each baby’s personal rhythm, style, strengths and limitations which allows them to tune in and provide individualized care and experiences. 

Our infant and toddler program is based on the predictable sequences of normal
infant development in the areas of motor skills, language and communication,
cognition and socialization. Although each child develops at their own rate they
all progress through similar stages of development. Our caregivers reinforce these
basic stages of development by talking and singing, playing with and responding
to your child.

Preschool Program (2 - 5 years). Our curriculum is developmentally based and uses a Thematic Approach to learning. This is enhanced by integrating Art, Music, Movement, Literature, Pre-Reading, Math, Language Development, Science, Social Studies and Multi-Sensory Experiences. Classrooms are arranged into interest areas that give children options for making decisions on where and how they want to learn and explore.  Learning activities alternate with indoor and outdoor play periods every day, weather permitting.

Each child develops at their own pace and we encourage communication between staff members and parents on the progress of their child. In addition to daily reports, classroom news and monthly newsletters we schedule parent/teacher conferences in the spring. Additional conferences can be scheduled at a mutually convenient time if a teacher or parent feels it would be beneficial for the child. We invite parents to visit us, ask questions and make suggestions to help us make this a successful experience for their child.

Before & After School Program (Through Grade 5). Open Arms provided transportation to and from Alberta Smith, Grange Hall, Winterpock, Spring Run, Clover Hill, Woolridge Elementary Schools. We provide both before and after school care for children attending these schools as well as care on early release days and teacher workdays.  Our after school program will provide your child with a nutritious snack and a supervised homework period. Outdoor activities will be available, weather permitting, as well as both organized and free choice activities.
