Preschool Program (2 - 5 years). Our curriculum is developmentally based and uses a Thematic Approach to learning. This is enhanced by integrating Art, Music, Movement, Literature, Pre-Reading, Math, Language Development, Science, Social Studies and Multi-Sensory Experiences. Classrooms are arranged into interest areas that give children options for making decisions on where and how they want to learn and explore. Learning activities alternate with indoor and outdoor play periods every day, weather permitting.
Each child develops at their own pace and we encourage communication between staff members and parents on the progress of their child. In addition to daily reports, classroom news and monthly newsletters we schedule parent/teacher conferences in the spring. Additional conferences can be scheduled at a mutually convenient time if a teacher or parent feels it would be beneficial for the child. We invite parents to visit us, ask questions and make suggestions to help us make this a successful experience for their child. Two-year-old Preschool Three-year-old Preschool Four / Five-year-old Preschool Before & After School Program (Through Grade 5). Open Arms provides transportation to and from Alberta Smith, Grange Hall, Moseley, Winterpock, Spring Run, Clover Hill and Woolridge Elementary Schools. We provide both before and after school care for children attending these schools as well as care on early release days and teacher workdays. Our after school program will provide your child with a nutritious snack and a supervised homework period. Outdoor activities will be available, weather permitting, as well as both organized and free choice activities.
