Four-year-old Preschool. School Readiness is the main objective of the four-year-old class. This involves both social and academic development. The children learn to be responsible for their own belongings, follow directions and listen to the teacher in a larger group setting and exhibit good self control. Academically, they begin early reading skills, such as, phonemic awareness, recalling details of a story, and sequencing events. Beginning math skills include, recognizing numerals 1-10, matching numerals and quantities, making patterns and putting objects in small to large order. The children learn all of these readiness skills though games and activities in their circle times, through movement activities, and arts and crafts.
